Workshop TitleEmergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS)
Date18 August 2025
Time0800 – 1730hrs
VenueNg Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore
SynopsisEmergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) aims to improve patient care and outcomes during the critical first hours following neurological emergencies. ENLS promotes a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach using a consistent set of protocols, practical checklists, decision points, and suggested communication to use during patient management. This course covers 14 protocols developed by Neurocritical Care Society.
Learning objectives1. Understand the specific clinical needs of patients in the early phases of neurological and neurosurgical emergencies.

2. Meet these needs by standardising the management using ENLS protocols.

3. Use of checklists to address important clinical points.

4. Use of checklists to improve handovers.

5. General Critical Care (e.g. airway and ventilation, pharmacotherapy).

Workshop TitleCurrent Concepts in Critical Care
Date18 – 19 August 2025
Time0830 – 1700hrs
VenueNg Teng Fong General Hospital, Singapore
IntroductionCurrent Concepts in Critical Care is a 2-full day course designed for the advanced trainees and consultants in Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine or Anaesthesia. The course focuses on in-depth discussions about complex problems/situations that clinicians encounter in their daily practice in critical care. The discussions are facilitated in small groups with major emphasis on interactive learning. There will be a total of 8 modules each run by two experts in that particular field. The material learnt will provide an excellent primer for those doing fellowship examinations, or it could be an advanced refresher for the practising clinician.
ObjectivesMasterclass

Continuous Kidney Replacement Therapy (CKRT) – Practical Approach in the critical care population

  • Principles of CKRT prescription: How to order and titrate an appropriate CKRT prescription to best meet your ICU patient’s needs.
  • How to troubleshoot common CKRT problems e.g. frequent clotting, inefficient solute clearance.

Cardiac Output Monitors – Caveats and Limitations

  • Principles of cardiac output monitors and when to choose what.
  • Identify  the limitations of each CO monitor in order to make interpretation more meaningful.

Mechanical ventilation – Patient-ventilator dyssynchrony

  • Learn to recognise the various types of patient-ventilator dysynchrony waveforms.
  • Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot patient-ventilator dysynchrony accurately.

Advance Acid Base

  • Learn about the concepts in Stewart’s approach to acid base physiology.
  • Demystify common misconceptions in acid base physiology.
  • Apply these concepts to solve real life acid base problems.
  • Learn about the impact of administering various fluid administration on acid base in the ICU patient.

Case Based Discussions (CBD)

  • Learn to solve practical clinical challenges that may potentially arise in day-to-day practice.
