The Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance (APSA)
The Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance (APSA) is a regional alliance of the Global Sepsis Alliance with a network of representatives from 23 countries across the Asia Pacific. Sepsis is a major cause of preventable deaths in the Asia Pacific region and is the most common cause of death from infection. APSA was formed in accordance with the Bangkok Declaration 2018 APSA Bangkok Declaration which is a call to action to reduce the burden of sepsis in the region by enacting the 2017 World Health Assembly Resolution (70.7) on Sepsis. To achieve this APSA facilitates regional collaboration on sepsis research; quality improvement, guideline and policy development; education and advocacy with governments and regional WHO offices.
On 17 August 2023, the APSA Annual Symposium will be held in conjunction with APICS. The symposium provides an invaluable opportunity to bring APSA members together to learn and collaborate on national and regional advocacy, research and quality improvement initiatives. Our network involves critical care, emergency, infectious diseases, educators and academic health professionals. On 18 August 2023 (3.30pm), APSA is also proud to convene the “Sepsis and Critical Care in the Asia Pacific” session within the APICS program. We welcome all APICS participants to attend this event.
Neurocritical Care Society (NCS)
Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) envisions to improve the outcome of patients with life-threatening neurological illnesses globally. NCS embraces multidisciplinary health care workers like the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, researchers and scientists involved in managing patients with neurocritical illnesses. NCS aims to promote neurocritical care research and to promote learning and education for health care providers through practice guidelines, certification courses, annual meetings, online educational resources and publications. NCS has over 3000 members from 50 different nation, incorporating multidisciplinary health care workers. Together, NCS strives to provide quality patient care, professional collaboration, research, training, education and advocacy. NCS has 21 international partner organizations and aims to collaborate internationally, embracing the concept of diversity, equity and inclusion. The Asian-Oceanic chapter is the largest of the five regional chapters of NCS. This chapter has eight partner nations and 12 partner organizations. NCS is glad to conduct the 5th regional meeting of Asian-Oceanic chapter in Singapore this year, in conjunction with APICS 2023. The regional meetings aim to foster equitable development of neurocritical care in each region and to promote neurocritical care research and multidisciplinary collaborations, which we believe, would ultimately contribute for improving outcome of patients with neurocritical illnesses.
