*A bus has been arranged to transport ECMO workshop participants from Suntec City Conference Venue to NUS. Participants who want to avail the facility should meet at Suntec convention Centre, Level 1, Big Screen at 715 am on both days. The return trip to Suntec City Conference venue would be around 1730.
Introduction This 2 day highly acclaimed ECMO course is currently one of the courses endorsed by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ELSO) in Asia. It develops skills participants in the management of patients on ECMO, and teaches how to troubleshoot common problems with a simulated learning experience. Learning is further enhanced by smaller group simulation sessions to allow for hands-on education and active instructions on both basic and advanced topics such as circuit checks, equipment components, alarms, pressure monitoring, and emergency trouble-shooting procedures. Faculty and simulation educators will facilitate discussions on team training, clinical critical thinking, and decision making. Participants who attend the course will be assessed before and after the course and will receive ELSO endorsed Course certificate as well as the Red Book.
Objectives
  • Describe key indications and contraindications for ECMO
  • Identify ECMO circuit components and prime a circuit
  • Learn about common ecmo emergencies
  • Troubleshoot problems on ECMO using high fidelity simulation
  • Basic cannulation techniques would be taught  on cannulation simulators during the hands of sessions

Introduction This 2 day highly acclaimed ECMO course is currently one of the courses endorsed by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ELSO) in Asia. It develops skills participants in the management of patients on ECMO, and teaches how to troubleshoot common problems with a simulated learning experience. Learning is further enhanced by smaller group simulation sessions to allow for hands-on education and active instructions on both basic and advanced topics such as circuit checks, equipment components, alarms, pressure monitoring, and emergency trouble-shooting procedures. Faculty and simulation educators will facilitate discussions on team training, clinical critical thinking, and decision making. Participants who attend the course will be assessed before and after the course and will receive ELSO endorsed Course certificate as well as the Red Book.

  • Describe key indications and contraindications for ECMO
  • Identify ECMO circuit components and prime a circuit
  • Learn about common ecmo emergencies
  • Troubleshoot problems on ECMO using high fidelity simulation
